This robotic cube is the cutest personal assistant I’ve laid eyes on

Today’s electronic personal assistants come in all shapes and sizes. There’s Alexa, for example, which looks like a futuristic hockey puck. Google Home is a bit odd; it has a round base and an aesthetic slant at the top. New to the club is PLEN Cube, a surprisingly adorable and portable robotic personal assistant now on Kickstarter.

Developed by PLENGoer Robotics (the same folks that brought you PLEN2), PLEN Cube is essentially a Wi-Fi enabled cube-shaped robot designed to complement your daily life. The robot features a teeny tiny front-facing camera to track faces and motions. PLEN Cube integrates with numerous products and services, and with its camera, can interact with you hands-free.

PLEN Cube is plucky. It fits in your palm and can go just about anywhere. The home, the outdoors, and even in the car. PLENGOer Robotics boasts that its cuboid robot can take care of a plethora of tasks. PLEN Cube can tell you the weather, remind you of appointments, and play your tunes. Heck, plop the robot onto a tripod mount and it’ll be your action camera.

Without a doubt, PLEN Cube is cuter than Alexa or Google Home, but its cuteness comes at a cost. The Kickstarter version runs for $199, and the retail version will go for double that next year. If the little PLEN Cube can do all that’s promised in the campaign video, it might be worth the hefty price tag. As with all crowdfunded gadgets, realize there’s a risk of not getting everything you backed. That being said, Simplebotics will be sure to nab a PLEN Cube for review when they’re available.
